Amy Boulden has played in 87 Ladies European Tour tournaments since she joined the tour in 2014 as Rookie of the Year.

But until this weekend she was yet to win any.

So we bet this made her victory at the 2020 VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open all the sweeter.

She played absolutely beautifully, completing a final bogey-free round of 64 (-8) to finish the week at 17-under-par and three shots ahead of Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou.

She now goes home with the €30,000 winner’s check and the extra thrill of knowing that she has risen 68 places to fifth on the Race to Costa Del Sol rankings.

Speaking afterwards, the 27-year-old said:

“It’ll take some time to sink in, I’m thrilled and really excited to get that first LET win. I am obviously overwhelmed. I was looking forward to getting out there today and I haven’t been in this position for quite a while, so I just tried to enjoy it.”

Before the event at Golfpark Holzhäusern she hadn't made the top 10 at any tournament since 2017, but during the final round she seemed in her element from the very first hole.

She immediately took a share of the lead with a birdie at the par four 1st hole and held a two-shot lead heading into the back-nine after a flawless 31 (-4) on the front.

Despite LET rookie Stephanie and Morroco’s Haddioui both giving it their all, the Welsh star was unstoppable and she birdied holes 10, 11, 13 and 14 before parring the remaining four.

Her last round was her career-best and amazingly, she didn't make a single bogey since the 17th hole of the first round.

How we wish we could play like that!

The Conwy Golf Club member looked absolutely thrilled as she collected her trophy (can we just take a moment to appreciate how brilliant this cow-shaped creation is, too).

She said:

“My goals this year were to put myself in to contention, I am really happy with how I handled the pressure and how I put my foot down on the gas when I needed to.

“I’m looking forward to playing more like this and being in these positions more often, this is where I want to be. Competing to win and I am looking forward to the next chapter.”

Amazing work Amy, it really was your week and you nailed it!

Next up on the LET is the Lacoste Ladies Open De France at Golf Du Medoc which gets underway on Thursday September 17.
