For many players competing in the 2020 AIG Women's Open, today (August 21) was a day of mixed emotions.
For those who didn't make the cut of the top 65 and ties at the end of Round 2 it was their last round at Royal Troon and today or tomorrow they will make their way home.
This includes some of our favourite British players such as Carly Booth, Ellie Givens (making her Women's Open debut) and Meghan MacLaren.
They tell Harriet Shephard why they had an amazing time despite the wet, extremely windy and difficult conditions.

"Links is always nice to play. But unfortunately you can never really properly prepare for this weather. Unfortunately on this golf course you can get some really bad breaks, you can miss the green and end up in the bunker and the bunkers are so horrible; I either couldn't get a proper stance or it was a plugged lie or I couldn’t even come up sideways. It’s a shame really because I think sometimes your score doesn’t really show how well you played. But that’s just part of tournaments like this and it keeps it exciting. I’ve really enjoyed the last two days and this is only my third tournament this year so it’s kind of funny that one of my first ones was a major. I took three months off golf and its just trying to adapt. This is feel golf so you can’t really prepare for it. But I’ve enjoyed it and I love coming to Troon."

“I played rubbish today but I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s a great golf course and so great to be here. It’s a true test of golf. I wasn’t nervous about it being my first time to be honest I was just really excited to be here. I felt pretty good about my game coming in, I just really struggled with my driver today and a little bit yesterday."
Meghan MacLaren
“I love it here, I’m so sad that I don’t get to play two more rounds. It's unbelievable. This is the only time of year we get to play something like this. Links golf is just different, you don’t just hit your stock shot you have to work it both ways. It’s what makes it so hard here you play so many holes doing one shot and then you have to turn it around and do something totally the opposite. But I love that kind of challenge and being able to manouver it.”
