With the 'flic' of a switch it seemed, England's Felicity Johson made a late surge up the leaderboard to take a two-shot lead at the ISPS Handa Vic Open in Australia.
Johnson shot a bogey-free round of 8-under par at 13th Beach Golf Links, which included 17 greens in regulation and birdies on three of the five par-5s. "Anytime you shoot 8 under, it's pretty good," Johnson said. "To do it bogey-free is a bonus."
Australian Su Oh, who lead the field for most of the day before Johnson's surge, had a hole in one at the 15th to finish her round at 6-under par. She tied for second place with Canada's Anne-Catherine Tanguay and Kim Kaufman from the US.
England's Georgia Hall, Mel Reid and Holly Clyburn all shot rounds of 70 to tie at 3-under par with American Morgan Pressel. Minjee Lee's title defence got off to a slow start with an opening round of 1-under, whilst Major champion Karrie Webb and England's Charley Hull were just behind at level par.
