Here's all you need to know about the 2024 Solheim Cup at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia - the players, the course and how to watch live action
The Solheim Cup returns less than a year since we last got to experience it, when the best women golfers from Europe and the USA go head-to-head for the 19th time in the history of the event this week from 13-15 September.
Set to be one of the most eagerly anticipated golfing events of the year, the 2024 Solheim Cup will see major champions, young stars and talented veterans leading the way on both fiercely competitive sides.
Still reeling from a 14-14 draw which saw Europe retain the trophy for a third consecutive time, Stacy Lewis' Team USA will be looking to exact revenge following the victorious celebrations of Suzann Pettersen's Team Europe at Finca Cortesin in Spain just under 12 months ago.
This week, all eyes will be on the prestigious Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, which boasts a magnificent clubhouse with views overlooking Lake Manassas across the course. European fans will be greatly outnumbered and will have to cheer that much harder to get their voices heard from the large American crowds expected this week.
Let's see who the fans will be raising their voices for as they battle it out just outside the nation's capital Washington, D.C.

Solheim Cup format
The Solheim Cup takes place over three days.
On days one and two, morning foursomes matches – where players hit alternate shots – are followed by afternoon fourball matches – where each player plays her own ball and the lowest score counts.
The final day, or Singles Sunday, is made up of singles matches. And that’s usually when the magic happens!
Solheim Cup points and scoring
The three days of competition consist of 28 matches which are each worth one point. When a match ends in a tie, both teams score half a point. The first team to reach 14.5 points wins the trophy. If there is a tie on 14 points, the winning team from the previous edition will retain the cup. In this case that would be Team Europe.
The Course at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club
Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, which opened in 1991, was founded and designed by famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. who considered the layout to be one of his finest designs. “The terrain is aesthetically perfect,” he said. “I don't think we could have done anything better anywhere."
Anchored by a stately Georgian-style clubhouse, Robert Trent Jones Golf Club plays to a par 72. The course and its designer have long worked to join the game of golf with the American presidential lineage, with Jones first installing a putting green at the White House in 1954 for President Dwight Eisenhower. The club was the host venue for the 1994, 1996, 2000 and 2005 Presidents Cups, with four presidents serving as honorary chairmen, as well as the PGA Tour’s 2015 Quicken Loans National, won by Troy Merritt.
