Carnoustie's Jess Meek, a second-year student at the University of Missouri, finished joint 10th in a field of 90 at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Classic at Cherokee Country Club's par-71 course (5,870yd) at Knoxville, Tennessee.

Meek, a former Scottish Under-21 girls champion and winner of the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews last June (pictured with her trophy), had rounds of 76, 72 and 73 for a total of 221 - nine shots behind the winner by three, Nanna Madsen (South Carolina) with 72-69-71. Three late birdies saw Jess climb into the leading 10.

Missouri freshman Clara Young from North Berwick finished joint 54th with rounds of 75, 74 and 82 for 231. Northern Ireland's Jessica Carty (Denver University), a second-year student from Rory McIlroy's home territory - Holywood, near Belfast - shared 17th place on 223 with rounds of 72, 74 and 77. Denver team-mate and Scotland international Rachael Watton (72-74-77) from Edinburgh finished alongside Clara Young on 231.
