MEANWHILE ....

Tiverton finished runners-up in the rain-hit English Junior Champion Club Championship at Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire. The tournament was reduced to 18 holes after the second round was abandoned due to waterlogging on the Bracken Course.

Tiverton lay second on 71 stableford points on the first day after Tom Trowbridge posted 38 playing off three and junior captain Tom Hanson carded 33 off four.

Saltford, Llanymynech and The Gloucester also came in with 71 but Tiverton prevailed because Grace Jackson, with 32 off six, had the highest score of the third players in each team. Tiverton were also going well on the second day before the players were called in, with Trowbridge and Jackson both level with their handicap after 12 and Hanson two over after 13. The result eclipsed Tiverton's third-place finish in 2011. Cosby, from Leicestershire and Rutland, took the title with 72.
