Kent recently hosted the Ten Counties Seniors’ Championship at Littlestone Golf Club, a championship that was established in 2007, whereby each county takes it in turn to host the event.
Four players are selected from each of the ten counties and they play one medal round. The winning county is determined by taking the lowest three scores.
Littlestone showed its real character by being very benign on the first day during the practice round, but on the following day the wind got up and came from a different direction. However, the Kent team held their nerves and swings to come in with the best total score of 235 and win the trophy by six shots from Berkshire.
The winning Kent team was Gerry Bray (Littlestone) and Tita McCart, Kim Morris and, reigning Kent Senior Champion, Ingrid Long (all Sundridge Park).
