Adverse weather clinched Nicola Robertson's first win on the US women's college golf circuit - when snow fall forced the cancellation of the second and final round of the scheduled 36-hole event.

Robertson from Dunblane, a freshman student at King University, Tennessee, had led the field of 86 players with a three-over-par 75 at the end of the first day, played in testing, wintry conditions at the Converse College Spring Invite tournament venue, Carolina Country Club, Spartanburg, in South Carolina.

A member of Stirling Golf Club, she won by one stroke from team-mate Elizabeth Swallow from Berkshire and King University won the team title.
