Glow V1 is the first tournament-legal golf ball & enables all-year round Big Golf Race play
Prostate Cancer UK, the leading men’s health charity, has launched the first tournament-legal glow-in-the-dark golf ball to give golfers taking part in The Big Golf Race an all-year-round option. The brand-new Glow V1® features the revolutionary NightShine™ technology, providing golfers with more than eight hours of tournament-grade luminescence without affecting on-course performance.
Incorporating a carefully calibrated design, the newly engineered high-energy NightShine™ core maintains USGA weight regulations, while the five-piece surlyn construction delivers exceptional distance, straight ball flights and an ultra-soft feel. Now, tee times can be booked throughout the night with the Glow V1® providing superior visibility in every element with golfers being able to track shots from over 300 yards away, even in total darkness. The Glow V1® is also fully-rechargeable with any standard UV light by simply placing the ball under the light for 90 seconds for a full charge.
“This is a huge advancement in golf ball technology and something we’ve been working on for some time,” said Daniel Richards, Chief Golf Ball Designer at Prostate Cancer UK’s Golf Department.
“We’ve designed the Glow V1® so golfers can take part in The Big Golf Race at any time of year without having to worry about finishing in total darkness. The results from testing were incredible and I think we’re going to see more and more golfers out playing past midnight than ever before,” he added.
Since The Big Golf Race was launched in 2020, it has become the biggest golf fundraising challenge in the UK, with more than 14,400 golfers raising over £4.5m to help fund life-saving research to radically improve the way prostate cancer is diagnosed and treated.
This year, the leading men’s health charity is encouraging more golfers to go the distance to help save dads, grandads, brothers, partners and golf mates from a disease that is now the most diagnosed cancer in England, affecting 1 in 8 men.
