Ennis’ Tricia McDonnell has been appointed incoming High Performance Director of the Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU). Her election will be confirmed at the AGM in January 2014.

Ennis’ Tricia McDonnell has been appointed incoming High Performance Director of the Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU).

As one of the four Nominated Directors on the ILGU Board, her election will be confirmed at the Annual General Meeting in January 2014 as she takes up her position following the completion of the current HP Director Ada O’Sullivan’s four year term.

With an honours degree in Physical Education and Recreation/Business Management and Administration, Tricia has been teaching Physical Education in Limerick Prison since 2000. She has just completed a five year term on the Board of Directors of Lisdoonvarna Failte.

A member of Ennis Golf Club, she took up the game at an early age and achieved representative honours at all levels of the game. She debuted for the Ladies Home International Team in 1998 and was crowned Irish Ladies Close Champion at Portsalon in 2005 and again the following year at The European Club.  Her amateur career highlighted with a GB&I cap for the 34th Curtis Cup match in 2006, having been selected for the GB&I Vagliano Trophy team in 2003 and 2005. More recently, she captained the Munster Girls Interprovincial team in 2009.

With a wealth of experience of golf at all levels, and Mum to four youngsters, she balances her work and family commitments admirably while enjoying her regular rounds of golf playing off an impressive handicap of +2.

work achieved in High Performance by Ada O'Sullivan and her team. Currently there is a wealth of young talent within the Irish golfing arena and it is with great enthusiasm and anticipation that I begin my involvement with the Union in their High Performance programme.”
