Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson has been named Players’ Player of the Year at the Ladies European Tour (LET) End of Season awards.

LET Members were given the chance to vote for their Player of the Year over the final few weeks of the season, with the winner being revealed following the season-ending Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España.

The Players’ Player of the Year recognises a player who is a role model for current and aspiring LET players, both inside and outside the ropes. Their overall enthusiasm and achievement have inspired others to take up golf and strive to achieve their goals.

Gustavsson began her career on the LET Access Series in 2015 before securing her full LET playing rights for the 2016 season.

The Swedish star has continued to improve year on year with 2022 being her breakthrough season as she recorded six top-10 results including three runner-up finishes and ended the year in third place on the 2022 Race to Costa del Sol.

2023 and Gustavsson's well-deserved LET victory

It was another consistent year on Tour for Gustavsson in 2023 as she recorded five top-10 finishes including as runner-up at the Ladies Open by Pickala Rock Resort.

The 30-year-old finally captured her maiden LET victory at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France in September and ended the year seventh on the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, she said: “I want to thank my fellow LET members for this award, it means a lot to be voted Players’ Player of the Year.

“I’m very proud to be standing here with this trophy. The LET is a big family that I love being a part of. After eight seasons on Tour, I got my first win this year.

“It was a very special moment and to be able to have my best friend Emma [Nilsson] on the bag. To anyone out there, I just want to say don’t give up on your dreams, they can come true, and you can do it.”

Alexandra Armas, Ladies European Tour CEO, said: “Many congratulations to Johanna for winning the 2023 Players’ Player of the Year award. The consistency in her game over the past two years on Tour has been fantastic and she finally secured her breakthrough victory earlier this season. It is always a meaningful achievement to be recognised by your peers and Johanna has proved to be a role model on and off the golf course.”
