''Congo Rapids Lost World Adventure Golf was opened to the public on 19th June 2016, just in time for the start of the school summer holidays!
We had been given guideline figures of how many users visited the Norfolk site in the first year and were a little surprised (and occasionally overwhelmed) at how popular our course was in these first few months. Some customers were willing to wait for an hour to play on a couple of our busiest days!
The perfect weather attracted 20,000 people to the course over the summer, almost the same as the first 12 months at the Norwich site. This had a very positive impact on the food and beverage income as well as bringing in brand new visitors of all ages to see all that we have to offer within our complex.
The only unknown potential downside of this expansion was how it might be perceived by the existing traditional golf members. However, all bar a handful have been very positive about it, understanding that it will raise the club’s profile and attract members of the future. It may prove that this first year was exceptional owing to the fact that there were no other Adventure Golf courses of this type in Suffolk - this was an important factor behind the decision to build this course and in its resulting popularity. Other operators with similar circumstances in their own catchment areas will no doubt see the benefit they can bring to a complex, and we believe that the number of courses is likely to continue to grow.
