Ufford Park Hotel, set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year, having opened its doors in April 1992.

This unique hotel is set in 120 acres of historic parkland. It is just minutes from the county’s heritage coast and a mere ten miles from the bustling county town of Ipswich. It is a unique venue with a unique history and there will be a range of 25th Anniversary celebrations taking place over the course of 2017.

The parkland in which today’s hotel stands was, around one hundred years ago, the grounds of a mansion called ‘Ufford Place’, a building that was demolished by a fire later on in the mid-twentieth century. The very old specimen trees had reached the end of their life at that time and were then cleared to allow arable farming to take place. All that remains of the original manor house is the Victorian Lodge at the entrance to the current hotel grounds.

In 1991, Shirley and Colin Aldous, parents of Ufford Park’s current Managing Director Tarnia Robertson, took over the stalled development of what was to become known as Ufford Park. They invested their own money into the scheme, along with another local entrepreneur, and the Ufford Park Hotel opened its doors the following year.

Since then the Hotel was undergone extensive development and refurbishment, with additions including a two-storey driving range, dance studio and a Thermal Suite Spa.

While the original building has grown beyond recognition, dedicated maintenance of the surrounding parkland has ensured the preservation of its natural beauty, and it is now enjoyed by golfers who play on the award-winning, 18-hole, par 71 parkland golf course.

Last year’s launch of the adventure golf course, Congo Rapids Lost World introduced a new generation to Ufford Park adding another great reason to visit.

Tarnia Robertson became Managing Director in April 2015. She said:

“We couldn’t be prouder of the past twenty-five years, or more grateful to the guests who have visited, and whose support has helped us shape what we’ve become. Here’s to the next twenty-five years!”

Special anniversary promotions will be available during April and will be publicised via their social media channels so keep an eye out for them!
