The inaugural Women’s Invitational sponsored by SSE is a bespoke business event that provides female business executives from all industries with a chance to mix golf and business.
The event will be staged at Stoke Park Golf Club on Monday 21 September 2015.
Taking place a day after the Solheim Cup’s conclusion, this unique one-day event offers attendees with all ranges of golf experience a chance to network and engage with up to 75 delegates from leading UK businesses.
Beginners will be given the opportunity to give golf a try at an instructional clinic with Ladies European Tour player Kylie Walker and PGA qualified professionals, whilst more experienced golfers can compete in a 9 hole tournament. Off the course, all delegates will enjoy a number of keynote speaker presentations whilst engaging in interactive discussions hosted by the BBC’s Clare McDonnell.
Speaking about the creation of the event, Guy Kinnings, Global Head of Golf for IMG, said: “We’re excited to have SSE on board as our title sponsor. With women’s golf continually on the rise, there is no better time to promote the participation of the sport to new parties and highlight the huge commercial opportunities to the many brands that will be present during the exclusive one-day event.”
Rosie Macrae who heads up SSE’s diversity and inclusion team said: “We are extremely proud to be involved in an event that will help to break down the stereotypes that business and golf is restricted to males only. Although not exclusive to women, we hope that the event truly makes a difference and enables women to participate and benefit from the advantages of doing business in a golf environment whilst enjoying the several keynote speakers, networking and presentations that we have planned.”
Title sponsors SSE have committed to the event until 2017, adding the golfing event to its already varied and impressive sponsorship portfolio, which includes The SSE Women’s FA Cup; The SSE Arena, Wembley; and The SSE Hydro. The energy company also has a partnership with charitable organisation Sports Aid, and is committed to supporting 100 SSE Next Gen athletes across the UK and Ireland, with golf included in this roster.
