Rory McIlroy is engaged. Or is he? Speculation is rife that World Number three Rory McIlroy has become engaged to his girlfriend of nearly one year, Erica Stoll.
According to the Irish Independent, McIlroy has become engaged to his girlfriend of nearly one year, Erica Stoll.
The rumours began after McIlroy, 26, posted a picture of the Eiffel Tower to his social media accounts on Wednesday night, prompting speculation that he had used the location as a site to propose to Stoll, who works for PGA America.
Representatives for McIlroy have neither confirmed nor denied the engagement, stating, “We don’t comment on speculation about our client’s personal life.”
McIlroy and Stoll made their first public appearance together at the Royal County Down, the site of the Irish Open, in May, though they have been linked since April. Miss Stoll, who is Championship Volunteer Operations at the PGA of America, met the star in 2012.
She famously saved him from missing his tee time during the 2012 Ryder Cup and arranged a police escort to take him to the greens when he was nowhere to be seen at the site.
The Irishman famously ended his engagement to Caroline Wozniacki with a brief phone call. After splitting up with the tennis star from Denmark, he said he wanted to concentrate on his golf instead of finding love.
