To further enhance its close ties with the world of professional golf, Bordeaux AOC wine brand Mouton Cadet commenced a three year agreement last week as Official Wine Supplier to The Open.
Mouton Cadet is already the Official Wine Supplier to golf’s European Tour and to The Ryder Cup, and last year released a special limited edition Ryder Cup Cuvée sold through premium wine retailers, including Harrods. Its new relationship with The Open marks an important step in the brand’s strong links with golf and premium lifestyle.
Brand owner Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s CEO Hugues Lechanoine said: “Mouton Cadet’s association with golf is a natural fit and I am delighted that our brand has been selected as the Official Wine Supplier to The Open as we share the same values of heritage, conviviality and the pursuit of excellence. For 85 years Mouton Cadet has been producing high quality wines to bring pleasure to consumers around the world, and since 1860 The Open has been producing a legacy of great international Champions.”
Michael Tate, Executive Director – Business Affairs at The R&A, which organises The Open, adds “We are delighted to be associated with Mouton Cadet and welcome them as the new Official Wine Supplier to The Open. The Championship is one of the world’s great sporting events and enjoys a unique position in golf just as Mouton Cadet does as a wine producer.”
Selling over 12 million bottles a year in 150 countries, Mouton Cadet is one of the world’s most recognised names in wine.
