Las Colinas Golf & Country Club is well-placed to defend its ‘Best Golf Course in Spain’ title after being shortlisted for the prize once again ahead of this year’s World Golf Awards.
It was accorded the honour for the first time in 2015, where its enduring quality as a golf experience was recognised by the global golfing community.
This year’s awards will again be determined by a public vote, and once more Las Colinas will need to defeat other contenders in Spain to land the crown it was awarded at a glittering ceremony in Sardinia last year. There will be strong competition from over 20 other Spanish nominees, and the winner will be announced on the Algarve in November.
The 330-hectare property south of Alicante features a championship course that plays host to the world’s top golfers, such as 2015 BMW PGA Championship winner An Byeong-hun, at the annual European Tour Qualifying School. The par 71 layout was designed by American Cabell B. Robinson and stretches to 6376 metres from the tips. Five different sets of tees are available, and the course is complemented by tour-standard practice facilities, a Golf Academy and a well-stocked pro shop. The stylish and unmistakeably Spanish clubhouse offers refined relaxation and exquisite dining at UNiK Café and the enso sushibar.
Complementing the world-class golf course at Las Colinas is a wide range of luxury accommodation. Apartments and villas, many with stunning views of the course, are available both for holiday rentals and for sale.
Apart from its success in the World Golf Awards, the course at Las Colinas has also been named as one of Europe’s Top 100 in Golf World’s highly-regarded biennial rankings.
Voting is now open to the general public and closes on the 17th July 2016.
