Following the latest update from the Prime Minister, golf courses and driving ranges in England will close for one month from November 5.

It was announced today (October 31) that certain businesses and venues, including golf courses and driving ranges, must close for four weeks to reduce social contact.

The latest closures are detailed in a statement on the gov.uk website.

It details that the new COVID-19 rules apply to: "indoor and outdoor leisure facilities such as bowling alleys, leisure centres and gyms, sports facilities including swimming pools, golf courses and driving ranges, dance studios, stables and riding centres, soft play facilities, climbing walls and climbing centres, archery and shooting ranges, water and theme parks."

The month long restrictions will start on Thursday November 5 at 12.01am and ease on Wednesday December 2.

This follows earlier announcements that golf courses in Wales and Ireland must close.

We think these new restrictions are questionable at best.

Amongst other benefits golf provides exercise, fresh air and access to green spaces. All of which are particularly important for maintaining good mental and physical health during a pandemic.

We know many of you will be devastated by this latest development, and we want to encourage our Women & Golf community to reach out to one another and offer support and friendship during this very difficult time.

Stay safe everyone and hopefully we can all get back to playing the game we love as soon as possible.
