There's no need to be sad that the Open has been cancelled this year. The R&A have created the next best thing...
The Open was due to take place this week at Royal St George's in Kent but, as we all know, it has sadly been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But all is not lost.
The R&A has come up with a genius way of offering us the next best thing - a ‘reimagined’ Open Championship featuring some of the best footage from over the last 50 years.
Created in association with HSBC, archieve footage including the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Seve Ballesteros, and Rory McIlroy has been pieced together with new commentary, clever graphics and effects to create a totally new tournament entitled The Open for the Ages.
It's being broadcast every day via The Open’s website and social media channels as well as on Sky Sports and NBC Golf Channel, so there's lots of ways you can tune in and watch.
The final will be shown from 11am on Sunday July 19.
Produced by IMG, whose production team spent over 1,000 hours of editing time on the project, the broadcast includes commentary from Iona Stephens, Nick Dougherty, Butch Harmon and Ewen Murray, all recorded live from St Andrews, London and Los Angeles.
