Celebrating VE Day Alongside The Royal British Legion

May, 2020, sees the 75th anniversary of VE Day (and VJ Day in August) and the Royal British Legion is helping Golf Clubs throughout the country to celebrate in style.

The celebration will include a golf competition for their Members followed by a special lunch or dinner - with many already deciding to follow the “street-party” theme, with period music, dress and dancing. The Ladies in many Clubs are already looking for period dress.

Already, special menus are being devised and, in many cases, entertainers will be providing music and songs from 1945.

Every golfer taking part will receive a commemorative ball-marker from RBL, with the winners receiving a prestigious gold medal. Players are asked to make a donation, via their Club, to RBL and the period around the anniversary - May 8th, a bank holiday in the UK - will see hundreds of Clubs taking part.

Over the last few years golfers have donated the magnificent total of £1 million to the vital work of the Royal British Legion.

Those who are not yet entered are invited to do so by contacting the Royal British Legion, either via the website - poppy golf.org.uk - or direct to the organiser at - [email protected]
