Twelve year old Grace Herbert has made history by becoming the first West Herts Junior Girl Member to play for Herts County in their 125 year history and possibly the youngest ever to play for the County.

Last year, Grace was invited by the Hertfordshire County LGA to play in a County girls match, Herts & Middlesex v Beds & Bucks at Hendon GC, a great honour for someone so young - and a 3rd place in the Herts Girls Under16 Spring Meeting gave her the confidence to enter a number of Junior Mixed and Girls only Opens. The County invite was the highlight of her year.

It was discovered that Grace was the first West Herts Junior Girl Member to play for Herts County in their 125 year history and it also transpired that she was possibly the youngest club member to play for the County - but that may take some confirming with 125 years to look back over!

Grace enjoyed the experience of the day - and getting up and down from a bunker 25ft from the pin on the last to win the hole and halve their match was something special, especially with so many watching around the green. Herts & Middlesex eventually won 4 & 2, but for Grace it was a day to remember and now it's in the history books at West Herts and another (small) first for the girls.

Grace's family are all very proud of her and she hopes to follow in the footsteps of Charlie Hull and play for England one day.
