Breast Cancer Awareness Month is taking place throughout October and it’s still not too late to get involved.
The most common cancer in the United Kingdom, with 50,000 women diagnosed every year, breast cancer still claims 11,500 lives annually. Thanks to pioneering research however, more women are surviving than ever before.
Golf clubs have played an integral role in raising money to fund life-saving research and have again been encouraging members to wear pink in support of the cause.
Among the clubs who have already been tickled pink in 2017 include Easingwold Golf Club, who earlier this year raised a fantastic £3400 for Breast Cancer Research. Afternoon tea, a putting competition, a raffle, and an auction were all on offer as the members donned pink in support of the cause, showing that with a little hard work all of us have the potential to do our bit in the fight against cancer.
Rockliffe Hall are just one of many clubs holding events in aid of Breast Cancer Now this month. The County Durham venue is putting on a ladies’ golf extravaganza on Friday 20th October with members and non-members invited to partake in a drop of pink fizz, before enjoying a range of golfing activities supported by the club’s PGA professionals.
Attendees can also tuck into a ‘Ladies Day’ traditional English afternoon tea. There will also be a raffle on the afternoon with a chance to win a fantastic range of prizes (including an overnight stay at Rockliffe Hall) in support of Wear It Pink. For more information visit: www.rockliffehall.com
There are many ways for you and your golf club to still get involved:
• Organise a coffee morning
• Hold a captain’s day raffle
• Hold a best ball or a hole-in-one tournament
• And lots more. Visit: www.breastcancernow.com to find out more
