The only ladies’ golf major in Continental Europe celebrates its 20th anniversary 11 to 14 September in Evian, France. The Evian Championship made its debut last year as the 5th Major.

The Evian Championship, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, will host this year's 120 best golfers in the world.

Closing the Major season, The Evian Championship will reward the best performing Grand Slam player.

For 20 years, Evian has hosted the best golfers in the world: Annika Sörenstam, Laura Davies, Paula Creamer, Ai Miyazato, HelenAlfredsson - they have all won the trophy in this tournament. The 120 best players in the world will be present, all determined to take the title from Suzann Pettersen, currently ranked #2 in the world and last year’s defending champion.

Inbee Park will be a tough competitor, currently ranked #1 in the world and the Evian champion in 2012, as will Karrie Webb and Paula Creamer, the two winners this year of the American Tour, as well as all the rising stars.

The prodigy Lydia Ko, 16, who recently became pro in October 2013, will compete this year, having come second in her first participation at The Evian Championship last year. The promising Cheyenne Woods, niece of the great Tiger, recently won her ticket to the Evian by winning the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters in Australia.

A COURSE FIT FOR MAJORS

The course of the Evian Resort Golf Club, completely redesigned in 2012-2013 to accommodate the new Major, benefited from ideal conditions this winter with relatively mild temperatures that allowed it to take to its environment. Nature has done its job and is enhancing the course little by little.

For the second Evian Championship, this par 71, now more mature, will entirely fulfil its Major course requirements, with some extremely fast greens that are difficult to read, given the many micro-slopes.
