Sweden´s Emma Westin won for the third time this season on the LET Access Series with a two shot victory at the €50,000 Mineks & Regnum Ladies Classic at National Golf Club in Belek, Turkey.

Sweden´s Emma Westin won for the third time this season on the LET Access Series with a two shot victory at the €50,000 Mineks & Regnum Ladies Classic at National Golf Club in Belek, Turkey on Sunday, taking home a cheque for €8,042.

Westin started the final round a stroke behind overnight leader Caroline Rominger from Switzerland but quickly made up ground, taking the lead with birdies on the 4th and 5th holes. Rominger faltered early in her round with bogeys on the 3rd and 4th.

The young Swede’s closest challenger became fellow countrywoman Lina Boqvist, who started strongly, with birdies on the tough opening par five 1st hole, the 2nd and 4th, moving to within two shots of Westin.

The 23 year-old added a further birdie on the par four 8th, extending her lead to three shots. Westin three putted from the edge of the green on the tricky par five 12th but made amends on the 15th, holing an 8 foot birdie putt to finish at 4 under par. Boqvist was unable to catch her fellow country woman, recording nine straight pars on the closing holes for a two under total, 217 and second place on her own.

With back to back wins, Westin became for the first player on the LET Access Series to record three wins in one season and her victory took her to the top of the LETAS Order of Merit. She also receives an invitation to play in the LET’s Open de España Femenino, which takes place at Golf Costa Adeje from the 18th – 21st September.

“I am so happy. It’s crazy I have won two in a row I don’t realise it yet. All year has been amazing, I have practised very hard the last year but I didn’t think I could win three tournaments in the season,” Westin said. “The golf course has a tough finish, including 17, which I bogeyed, so I only knew I had won on 18.

“The best shot I hit was a wedge on the sixth from 75 metres, because I hit a bad tee shot and I had to get it close to save a par. It landed about half a metre from the hole and I made the putt.  I think I will take a few days off now and relax at home because I’m going to play in the LET tournament in Tenerife and then the rest of the Access Series.”

India’s Vani Kapoor played impressively all week to finish in third place with rounds of 75, 72, 72 and a total of 219. England’s Suzanne Dickens recorded her best finish this season, finishing in fourth place at three over par 224.

Second round leader Caroline Rominger struggled to a final round of seven over par 80 to tie for fifth place with England’s Charlotte Wild (74) and Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen (76).

The LET Access Series takes a break for two weeks before returning for the Open Generali de Strasbourg at Golf de Strasbourg, from the 25 – 27 September.
