Several wallabies were seen hopping around the fairways of Backworth Golf Club yesterday morning (December 7).

Three cheeky wallabies escaped onto the golf course, found in the North East of England, and gave local golfers quite the fright.

It was a frosty start to the day at Backworth Golf Club in Newcastle upon Tyne when the wallabies, natively found in Australia, were spotted bouncing around the course at around 9am.

Paul Booth, whose house overlooks the golf course, told The Chronicle newspaper that he spotted one of the wallabies from his window.

The 53-year-old, who also runs a photography business, said: "It was very weird. I thought I saw a big rabbit at first."

"I got a drone up to see if I could find it first, Then I just got my camera and went on the hunt."

However, the drama was soon resolved when the owner arrived and the wallabies were rounded up with what Paul described as a "a big net".

We're glad to hear they made it safely home.
