Golfers at Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel, Suffolk, have raised £273.23 for Breast Cancer Now after taking part in national ‘Wear it Pink Day’.
The national fundraising event took place on October 21 and Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel staff, members and visitors got involved with a host of pink-themed golf challenges and promotions.
The club held a ‘Wear it Pink’ sweepstake, with golfers paying to enter and donating funds to wear pink clothing while playing its James Braid designed heathland course.
Pink tees were on sale in Head Professional Christine Langford’s shop along with sleeves of pink golf balls. After golf, competitors enjoyed pink macaroons and exclusive Pinkster Gin cocktails in the clubhouse bar with donations made from every sale.
Staff at the Suffolk hotel and resort also came to wear dressed in pink.
Brad McLean, general manager at Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel, said:
“There are few people who haven’t, or won’t, have their lives affected by cancer in some way. Breast Cancer is one of the UK’s most common cancers and it’s important that we all do something to help prevent it and contribute to helping find a cure.''
“I’d like to thank all the golfers, members and staff who took part in our Pink Day and we’re delighted to be able to contribute to this superb cause.” For more about national Wear it Pink Day, visit: http://wearitpink.org/
