North Foreland Golf Club has further enhanced its long-term commitment to promoting junior golf in Kent and south-east England by hosting the final of the new Invicta 10s Molyneux Tour.

The finale to the 2021 Invicta 10s Molyneux tour, which is aimed at golfers from the ages of six to 10 and featured five qualifying competitions this summer, took place at North Foreland Golf Club in Kent last month.

Order of Merit leader Caleb Twyman, eight, claimed a deserved overall victory after winning three of the four events he played in, while Lauren Clarke also looks to be a potential golfing star of the future after taking top honours in the girls’ competition.

Lee Jones, golf manager at Kent Golf, said:

“As a whole, the tournament has been a huge success and we are massively thankful and proud of all the players that took part. Without fault, they displayed etiquette, sportsmanship, and wonderful behaviour to make hosting this event a true pleasure.

“We also saw a huge amount of genuine talent on display, with plenty of chip-ins, long putts and generally impressive golf which had many of the club pros rather taken aback, we are already looking forward to running the competition again next year.”

Twyman and Clarke were joined at the final in Broadstairs, Kent, by 29 other talented youngsters who, after being split into two groups, spent half of their day completing the nine holes for the competition, and the other half completing a series of challenges to help practice their skills.

The players made use of the Northcliffe Course for the event, a stunning par-three set-up that features 18 holes between 45 and 140 yards long, providing the perfect place for the juniors to demonstrate the full array of their talents.

No handicap was required to take part in the competition as Kent Golf, with the help of North Foreland and a number of other courses, try not only to nurture their bright young stars, but also to grow and maintain interest in all ability levels.

Chris Dowrick, club manager at North Foreland Golf Club, said:

“We were only too happy to host one of the events in this fantastic new tour, as we really believe in what it is trying to accomplish by giving these young talents somewhere to flourish.

“On the day, the children were all a joy to be around and impressed our PGA professionals with their skill and enjoyment of the game. We look forward to hosting the event again in 2022.”

Located on the picturesque Kent coast in the holiday town of Broadstairs, North Foreland Golf Club boasts two exceptional year-round golf courses – the Main Course and the Northcliffe Course – all coming with panoramic views of the Kent coastline.
