The only mixed-team national club knockout competition in the UK is looking for golf clubs who want to take part.

Mixed events became very popular in 2020, and last year we reported that a new knockout style competition was launching for men and women golfers across England, Scotland and Wales.

Well now we have some more details...

The inaugural National Clubs Mixed Team Golf Knockout Championships is the only event of its kind in the UK, and its set to take place between April and October (restrictions permitting, of course).

Open to all golf clubs in England, Scotland and Wales, each golf club can enter one or two teams of up to five mixed pairs to take part in a regionalised, knockout format competition.

The final four clubs standing will then qualify to take part in the national finals in Portugal in November (how good does golf in Portugal sound right now?).

Who's signed up so far?

Taking a scroll down the Mixed Golf Events Twitter feed we can see that lots of clubs have signed up already.

This includes City of Newcastle, Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire, Newmacher in Scotland, Enfield in Middlesex and Leyland in Lancashire.

Do you have some golfing pals at your club who would like to sign up with you?

Entry rules

Entry is £60 per team and registration closes on March 15, after which the draw will be made,

Teams will be split into four regions with clubs drawn against each other on a county and regional basis in the early rounds (this is to avoid excess travel where possible).

Teams will consist of up to five pairs (five men and five women) with a maximum handicap of 24 for men and 30 for women. There is however no limit to the team squad, but juniors are not eligable.

Players with higher handicaps can take part but they must play off 24 or 30 in the tournaments.

We think it sounds fabulous, and it definitely gives us something to look forward to.
