Eighty-year-old Marion Ludlam achieved a golfing ambition after she and son Stephen, 57, beat off competition from younger and lower handicap players to win the Jubilee Foursomes at Purley Downs.

Marion who joined the club in 1976 played in the inaugural Jubilee Foursomes in 1977 with her husband Tony and has played regularly in the competition since with either Tony or her son Stephen.

Marion, who is a Past Lady Captain at the club, said:

“Finally after 40 years of trying and, with some near misses, Stephen and I have managed to win the trophy. I’m delighted.”

There was a very strong field of 64 players taking part in the tournament who were there to cheer the Ludlams as they received their prize from Ladies’ Captain Frances Wood and Men’s Captain Keith Pitts.
