Carus Green Golf Club has raised an impressive £1421.00 for the North-West Air Ambulance, with a cheque presented to the charity at the ladies AGM last week.
Carus Green Golf Club has raised an impressive £1421.00 for the North-West Air Ambulance, with a cheque presented to Sarah Thompson, the North Lancashire and South Cumbria Regional Fundraiser for the North-West Air Ambulance, at the ladies AGM last week.
2016’s lady captain, Eve Peet, and club captain, Derek Oldfield chose the North-West Air Ambulance as their 2016 ‘charity of choice’ with funds raised through the holding of raffles, a tombola and various events during the course of their captaincy.
The North-West Air Ambulance takes advanced healthcare to scene; reaching, treating and transferring patients to definitive care as quickly as possible, transferring patients to the best medical/trauma centre for treatment, improving chances of survival and reducing the risk of long term injury. The service is funded by public donations, fundraising activity, lottery membership and their retail outlets.
“We decided to choose the North-West Air Ambulance as our ‘charity of the year’ because it’s such a worthy cause and provides a vital service across the region”, said Eve. “We are so pleased that the club has raised this amount to keep the service in the air.”
“We are delighted that Carus Green Golf Club’s 2016 captain, Derek Oldfield, and lady captain, Eve Peet, chose to support our charity,” said Sarah Thompson. “As a charity which is reliant on donations, we are incredibly grateful for funds like these to continue our lifesaving work.”
Eve, who has now passed the lady caption baton to her successor, Greta Farnsworth, has described her year as Carus’ lady captain as ‘extremely enjoyable’, despite passing very quickly! Her gift of a bound ‘year in pictures’ book from members of the ladies section rounded off a memorable year.
