Westhoughton Golf Club Ladies came through ten tough games to win the Lancashire Ladies County Golf Association Shield for the first time in their history.

After coming out on top in the SW Lancs division 2, the ladies continued their fine form in the SW finals, beating Formby Ladies in the semi-final before going on to defeat Hurlston Hall in the final.

Their victory earned them a place in the county finals at Ashton and Lea Golf Club, in Preston, and after beating the holders Shaw Hill they then went on to play local rivals Bolton Old Links in the final, coming out on top with a 4-1 victory.

This success crowns a wonderful year for Lady Captain and team member, Katy Leach, who earlier in the season had the honour of playing in a Pro-Am at Woburn with Minji Lee, and shortly afterwards attended a coaching session with Charley Hull.

Team Captain, Anne Whittaker, is thrilled at the team's success and is looking forward to defending the title next year.
