Emily Price broke the record at the Shropshire club with a round that included seven birdies.

Ludlow, Shropshire is proving the value of younger members with two fantastic results from locals Emily Price and Sophie Caldon, both 20 years’ old.

The club is pleased to announce that Emily has just smashed the ladies course record by three shots. Her gross 66 finish is five under par and an amazing six under the SSS, with seven holes birdied and nine holes parred.

Meanwhile, new member Sophie won the club’s first trophy of the year by shooting a level gross par 71.

Both girls are studying at college in America but due to the COVID-19 restrictions they have been spending a lot more time in the UK over the last couple of months, playing at Ludlow and now giving the club a fantastic boost with these fabulous results.

It’s certain a silver lining to this is strange time and we bet there will be similar situations across the country where players who would normally be competing and studying in the USA, are instead spending more time at their home club.

Emily hopes to go to Q school when she graduates and then go on to play on the LPGA, while Sophie’s aim is to enter the world of high finance.

Lady Captain Kim Simm is hugely proud of both of them.

She said:

“With Sophie’s determination and drive it looks like she’s on course for a bright future both with her career and certainly with her golf. Meanwhile, with her natural talent, I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot about Emily in the coming years!

“Both will be with us for most of this year so I’ve told our members to look out on the course for our two superstar golfers.  They’re both very friendly, lovely young ladies and they’re an asset to our Section and to Ludlow Golf Club.”

We fully expect to see Emily’s name popping up on the LPGA leaderboards in a few years.

Congratulations to both of them.
