Carus Green golf club is celebrating, following a superb show of skill from two of their lady members at the ‘Cumbria Vet Ladies Bronze Championships’.

Lady Captain, Eve Peet, and fellow member, Ali Dufty, competed in a field of 96 ladies at Carlisle golf club – in good conditions - with Eve taking the Sylvia Barron Plate for overall championship winner and Ali winning the Dorothy Meageen memorial trophy for the best stableford score on the day.

County player, Eve, who has been a member at the Kendal based club for 10 years and Lady Captain since 5 March, has a handicap of 22 and describes her discovery at winning, as ‘very emotional’:

“I was absolutely delighted – and amazed - to find out that I’d won the overall championship and Ali was thrilled to have won the stableford!” she said. “It was a great day in every respect and we’re looking forward to enjoying the rest of the season.”

“What a fantastic performance from the ladies and a great representation for Carus Green!” said club owner, Graham Curtin. “We have a friendly, thriving and talented ladies section at the club and regular group tuition enables our lady players to keep on top of their game. In the winter, our weekly ‘roll up class’ for ladies offering an hour’s tuition, balls and coffee for £7.50, has been particularly successful. In addition, the driving range and specialist facilities at the academy, means that anyone can turn up and ‘have a go’ and that’s what we’re encouraging.”
