After kicking off the golfing season as hosts to their County Ladies Championship, the Ladies’ section at Brancepeth Castle Golf Club have had their most successful year yet.
After kicking off the golfing season as hosts to the Durham County Ladies Championship, the Ladies’ section at Brancepeth Castle Golf Club in Durham have had their most successful year yet.
Not only did the club's scratch team top the league for the 8th year running in a totally undefeated season, but their handicap team claimed the title as Sivewright South winners too.
The section also enjoyed some great individual success too, with members taking medals in the Durham County Ladies and County Veterans Championships, and the Thomlinsons Cup.
At the Durham County Ladies Championship, Barbara Parkin won the best nett in the Bronze division, the Greener Cup. In the Silver division, the Brancpeth players took both the best gross and best nett Team Shields. To add to the club's string of successes, Lyn Davison reached the semi-final of the knockout competition, a feat that meant that she was selected to represent Durham County at Huddersfield in County Match Week a few weeks later.
To finish off an already impressive golfing season for Brancpeth Castle ladies, Lady Captain Marianne Moore and Lyn Davison claimed the last victory of the year at the Durham County Ladies ' Thomlinsons Cups' in September.
