West Sussex Golf Club member Caroline Sutherland Pilch got her year off to a flying start with an ace in the club’s first ladies’ competitions of the year.
Caroline's hole-in-one came at the 135-yard par-3 5th hole in a ladies' two-ball better call competition. It was the 14-handicapper’s fourth hole in one and second on the very same course that her mother-in-law still holds the course record at.
Having played golf for 30 years, Caroline didn't haven't her first hole-in-one until 2016, but they've come in quite a flurry ever since, as far as aces go. It was only right that she scored her first at her home club, West Sussex, then two more followed at East Brighton then Piltdown Golf Club, both in 2017.
Caroline commented, "I know getting a hole in one is pure luck, but I can at least say they were all good shots! I know my late mother in law would be amazed, as she still holds the course record at West Sussex, and when I got engaged told me I hadn’t got golfer’s wrists, so I didn’t take up the game for another 20 years!"
