Alanna was the only junior to play in the competition at the East Sussex club, but she still topped the leaderboard.

Junior Alanna Ross has won the Ladies Stableford Winners competition at Dale Hill, East Sussex.

At only 12 years old, she was the only junior to compete in the event, but that clearly didn’t phase her.

She finished with 39 points against a field of 17 lady members who had all qualified for the event.

Speaking to W&G, the talented young lady, who is currently playing off 19, said:

"Being the only junior playing against the ladies made me a little nervous, but they made me feel welcome and encouraged me to play my best and confidently. I had a great round and managed to get a point taken off my handicap, so I was very pleased.

"I am inspired by watching professional golfers at both The Open and the Ladies Open and seeing the potential there is for improving my game. The most important thing is to learn on bad rounds that it will get better and never give up!"

Alanna has been playing golf since she was five, and she’s no stranger to competitions.

She is the youngest member of the Sussex Girls Elite Squad and she's bagged several net wins including the Junior Girls Spring Meeting (Dale Hill) and the Sussex Girls Masters (Bognor Regis).

Over the last few years she has shone through the British Junior Golf Tour competitions, coming 2nd in the seasonal finale at Foxhills and consequently being interviewed for Sky Sports Game Changer Golf Special.

Dedicated to improving her game and sharing the joy of golf with other girls, she also uses her free time to volunteer as a Girls Golf Rocks Ambassador at Dale Hill. There she also plays for the junior team too and is featured in the Hall of Fame for finishing with the highest stableford points (52) at the Junior Captains Day when she was only 10 years old.

Meanwhile, proud Mum Val said:

“We are currently in the process of relocating to Northern Ireland where Alanna will attend Rockport School - the only school in Ireland to have a dedicated Golf Academy and Girls Elite Squad. It will be very exciting to see where the next chapter in Alanna's golf journey will take her.”

We think we’ll be hearing her name a lot in years to come.
