The anniversary marks the end of twelve months of remarkable success for the acclaimed private club near St Albans with membership sales well ahead of schedule and its course attracting a series of rave reviews from golfers and the media alike.

Centurion Club opened with a fanfare on July 1, 2013, and almost immediately its 7,084-yard par-72 course started to attract the sort of favourable critiques normally associated with more established facilities.

Greens Staff at Centurion Club have been working hard throughout the Club’s first year to hone the course to perfection and it is not just on course where progress has been made. Work has just started on the construction of a new two-storey club building designed by Harrison Mutch Architects while an 850 square metre green keepers’ complex is also being erected to house the club’s state-of-the-art Toro greens machinery.

Behind the scenes there have also been a series of key appointments with the hugely experienced Jonathan Dickins joining the Club’s management team as Sales and Marketing Director and Caisa Malmberg taking up the role of Sales and Marketing Executive.

The result of all this activity is that Club membership sales have bucked the national trend and have exceeded the targets that had been set.

“There is no doubt that our first year has surpassed all our expectations,” said Managing Director, Scott Evans. “Our goal right from the start was to ensure Centurion Club provided members with a private club of unrivalled quality and our success in that area has been rewarded with outstanding membership sales.

“There is now a real buzz about the Club as we begin the second phase of the project with the construction of the new club building and green keepers’ complex. We have just hosted our first Club Championship and everyone involved is really looking forward to the future development of the Club.”

Centurion Club is built on picturesque land to the south west of the Roman city of St Albans, close to the M1 and M25 and just half an hour’s drive from the City of London. Its 7,200-yard course only opened for play on July 1, 2013, but has already been hailed as one of the finest new lay-outs in England.

The Club is offering a variety of memberships. Prospective members can contact the Club on 01442 510 520 to arrange a guided tour.
