Golfers, how brave are you? Head to The Shire London on 9 September... and take on one of the country's toughest 'back tee' golf challenges. Can you beat The Green Monster?

Golfers, how brave are you? For your toughest challenge draweth near...

England's most intrepid golfers will head for north London in September to take on one of the country's toughest 'back tee' golf challenges - the Ballesteros Masters Course, at The Shire London.

Nicknamed the 'Green Monster', the spectacular and legendarily demanding golf course was designed by the much-missed Spanish maestro Severiano Ballesteros in the mid-2000s.

It is Seve's only complete UK course design.

Beat The Green Monster

On Tuesday 9th September 2014, the first annual 'Beat The Green Monster' tournament will set golfers a simple challenge - beat your handicap while playing from the back tees, and win a prize.

And whoever posts the day's best nett score will be the first recipient of the first Green Monster Cup.

The event is open to amateur golfers with a handicap limit of 24. The entry fee of £50 person (fourball price £180) includes refreshments before golf, the 18-hole tournament itself and a golfer's meal afterwards, plus a goody bag.

Measuring 7,028 yards (Par 72, SSS 73) from the back (green) tees, the Ballesteros Masters Course features six par threes, six par fours and six par fives, with no two consecutive holes playing to the same par.

The event starts at 11:00am on the day (shotgun start), and is an 18-hole medal with full handicap allowance. All golfers are welcome, although players must hold an official club handicap certificate.
