Jennifer Almond came out on top of a competitive field to take the trophy at the South West Girls' Under 14 Buchanan Trophy held at Gloucester Golf Club last month.
Teenager Jennifer Almond started playing golf when she was just a small child, joining Marlborough Golf Club when she was 8 years old. After lessons at her club and a dedication to practising that was nothing short of inspiring, Jennifer joined the Wiltshire Girls' squad shortly after.
Jennifer's hard work paid dividends last month as she claimed a win amongst a competitive field in the South West Girls' U14 Buchanan Trophy held at Gloucester Golf Club.
With girls competing with handicaps from scratch to 36, Jennifer scored an impressive 40 points to take the title. Her winning round included 5 gross pars - a serious feat for a 23-handicapper.
"I had a great day at Gloucester! My competitors were really good players so I knew I had to focus on my shots and keep calm to do well," said Jennifer after her win. "I was inspired to do well after attending the Ricoh Women’s British Open with my Dad. He has supported me since the day I first played!"
"I really love my golf and would encourage any girls who are thinking of trying it out to take advantage of the “Get Into Golf” events that are run at so many Clubs this year. You can make some new friends, get lots of exercise and fresh air too!"
"Golf provides a great balance with my studies, giving me time to socialise and get fit whilst having fun!" adds Jennifer.
