Samantha (Sammy) Fuller from Roehampton Golf Club has won the Florida Interanational Junior championships for the seventh year in a row.
Samantha (Sammy) Fuller, Roehampton Golf Club, London junior member, makes a habit of winning at the Florida International Junior championships - and the GB&I Junior Vagliano Trophy team player has done it again at this week's tournament at PGA Golf Club, Port St Lucie where she won a title for the SEVENTH year in a row as she has worked her way through all the various age groups.
Sammy, now 16 years old, won the girls' 15 to 17 years' competition with rounds of 74, 71 and 74 for a total of 219.
Sammy finished a shot ahead of the American runner-up, Lauren Thibodeau from New Hampshire, who had ever improving rounds of 76, 73 and 71 for 220.
Jade Guest, a 15-year-old from Cambridge, finished eighth on 232 with rounds of 77, 81 and 74. There were 16 players competing in this age group.
Sammy Fuller's 13-year-old sister Annabel, also a Roehampton GC member, finished third in the Girls' 13-14 years' section with an aggregate of 222 (71-76-75).
Annabel finished five strokes behind the winner by three, 14-year-old Nina Lang from Ingolstadt, Germany. Nina shot 69-74-74. Welsh youngster Ffion Tynan from Cowbridge Golf Club finished fifth in the Girls' 11-12 years old section.
Ffion, 12 years old, had rounds of 86, 83 and 82 for a total of 251, finishing 13 shots beind the winner by five, Minny Byun from Bradenton, Florida. Minny had scores of 79, 80 and 79 for 238.
Also in that age-group, Anna Guest from Cambridge finished 11th with 95-91-98 for a 284 total. Ffion's 10-year-old sister, Elin Tynan, also finished fifth in her age group, for girls aged 9-10 years. Elin had scores of 108, 109 and 106 for 323.
