Sammy Leslie (Kemnay), the defending champion, retained the Aberdeenshire women's county championship at Newmachar Golf Club by beating Kimberley Beveridge (Aboyne) in a repeat of last year's final, except this time Sammy had to go to the 19th to achieve victory.

In the morning semi-finals, Leslie won by 4 and 2 against Louise Anderson (Duff House Royal) and Beveridge won 3 and 2 against Vikki Thom (Kemnay).

The handicap final between Vicky Neish (Oldmeldrum) and Kath Emeleus (Hazlehead) was well contested with Kath winning by 3 and 2.

The scratch final turned into a very close match finishing all square after 18 holes.

Both players took their chances and Sammy was two up at the turn, having gone out in level par. Kimberley then won the 10th, 13th and 14th holes to go one up.
The 15th, 16th and 17th were halved in pars with Sammy winning the 18th to square the match. Sammy then parred the 19th to become Aberdeenshire champion for a fourth time.
