Innerleithen-born Karis Davidson, who moved to Queensland with her parents some seven years ago, has won the New South Wales State girls championship by nine shots with some brilliant golf.

She shot rounds of 72, 67, 68 and 69 for a professional-class aggregate of eight-under-par 276 at Shell Cove Golf Club.

Her third-round 68 was particularly praiseworthy as it was achieved in very windy conditions and underlined the teenage Scot’s ball control.

Celina Yuan, the Australian girls champion, finished second with with one-over 285 and Becky Kay (Queensland) came third on nine-over 293, 17 shots behind the winner.
