Ellen Hume won the England Girls Championship at Brocket Hall while Louise Burke topped the leaderboard in the under-16s category.

156 amateurs took part in the first two events of the 2020 Faldo Series Europe at Brocket Hall this week.

Emerging victorious from the England Girls Championship was Ellen Hume with a finish of -5, while Louise Burke, who recently competed on the Rose Ladies Series at Brokenhurst Manor and was part of Team Faldo at the 2020 Major Champions Invitational, topped the under-16s group.

A total of six girls - three from each group - qualified to take part in the Europe Grand Final at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, Abu Dhabi in November.

This includes Rose Ladies Series competitor Hannah Screen and Ella Hammond-Baveystock, plus Rachel Mackinlay and Grace Rigby-Walden from the under-16s.

Matthew Faldo, Director of the Faldo Series, said:

“It’s amazing to kick off the Series, and this week at Brocket Hall has really set the tone for the rest of the season. With a record-breaking field, and some truly talented players, it is exciting to have the Faldo Series back with such optimism in light of the current circumstances. This was the first time the Series has played on the Melbourne Course and it certainly did not disappoint.”

Next up in the Series is the England Midlands Championship at Kedleston Park, Derby on July 13.
