Helen Lowe overcame difficult conditions to claim her second senior title at the English Senior Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Belton Park Golf Club in Lincolnshire.

Starting the day six shots off the lead, Lowe shot an impressive 1-over par in her closing round of the English Senior Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship to win the title for the second time since claiming the title in 2015.

The player from Leicestershire battled strong winds and testing conditions to secure her victory, finishing the tournament four shots ahead of Tracey Williamson from Royal Cromer.

"I can’t believe I’ve done it, I really can’t," commented Lowe.

"This is tremendously important to me. It’s something you dream of and I don’t think I’ve won a stroke play event before. Putting three decent rounds together is quite an achievement!"

At the end of the opening round it was Tracey Williamson who led the field after carding a score of 2-under par, 71. Williamson was blown off course in the second round though, and Yorkshire’s Karen Jobing took the lead instead, six shots clear of Lowe.

Again falling victim to persistently strong winds, Jobling had to settle for a third place finish in the tournament, whilst Williamson holed a last minute birdie at the last to take the runners-up spot.

Defending champion Jackie Foster, who had been looking for a triple title win this week, finished in 8th position.
