Melrose-born Karis Davidson lost out in the women's semi-finals of the Australian Amateur Championships at Yarra Yarra Golf Club, Australia today.

Davidson, 18, who has lived in Queensland since her family emigrated from Innerleithen to Australia nine years ago, lost by one hole in the semi-finals to world No 4 female amateur Hye-Jin Choi, one of six South Koreans to make the last eight of the championship.

Karis, the No 5 seed, is ranked No 103 among the world's female amateur golfers. She is No. 4 among British-born women and is by far the highest world-ranked Scottish female amateur player.
