The 100th Usha All India Ladies Amateur Golf Championship takes place this week and Skerries international and GB&I Curtis Cup star Maria Dunne, has travelled to the Championship, which is supported by the R&A.
Dunne was one of two picks to join Elaine Farquharson-Black’s Curtis Cup side earlier this year, where team GB&I overcame the USA to lift the Curtis Cup at Dun Laoghaire. She has been an Irish Ladies International for six consecutive years and has been the leader and inspiration for many up and coming girls and hopeful international players. She has been, and is a familiar face and regular point scorer at the Home International Matches and European Team Championships over the past number of years and is an invaluable asset to the Irish side. She has stepped up her game since her return to golf after injury in 2011 and has never looked back.
The tournament will be played over 36 holes stroke play, 18 holes qualifying each day, and the top 32 players will qualify for the open match play event.
Ladies European Tour (LET) and LPGA Tour player Aditi Ashok first won the Usha All India Ladies Amateur in 2012 and 2014 at the age of 13 and 15. Players have travelled from a far, with competitors from Ireland, Scotland, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, South Africa, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh and India all taking part.
