The UK’s top female amateur golfers will be looking to follow in the footsteps of LPGA star Charley Hull at North Hants Golf Club in April, at the prestigious Hampshire Rose.
The 45th edition of the event will take place on Sunday April 9th – with participants hoping to emulate the success of Hull who won the Rose in 2010 and Ladies European Tour player Georgia Hall, who won the competition in 2012 and 2013.
This year for the first time, England Golf has paired the Rose with the Roehampton Gold Cup to create a 72 hole competition for R&A World Amateur Ranking points. The trophy for this event called The Gold Rose, has been donated by North Hants' own Justin Rose to celebrate his Olympic win.
This year the Hampshire Rose field is headed by a batch of young England Internationals including Sophie Lamb from Clitheroe playing off plus 3.4 and Gemma Clews from Delamere Forest playing off plus 2.8.
There will be 4 other England Internationals in a very strong field that includes defending champion Kerry Smith from Waterlooville and a total of 23 players playing off scratch or better.
Entry for spectators to the course for both the events is free and families and juniors are welcome for this rare opportunity to follow the stars of the future at the very start of their careers. The proximity to Fleet station offers good train links from London and the South Coast and there is ample free parking.
