3 Hammers Golf Complex welcomed the cream of junior golf to its famous short course to battle it out for its coveted Junior championship titles.

Georgia Pritchard, a student at Chase Terrace Technical College, clinched the overall title after winning the second play-off hole against local teenager, Will Dunn. At 15 years old, Georgia is the youngest ever winner of 3 Hammers’ Junior Par 3 Championship.

Georgia, who is a member at Beau Desert Golf Club, made a strong finish to her round making 3 consecutive birdies to score 52 gross. This won her the 13-15 year old category title and forced the play-off against Will who had also scored gross 52 to win the 16-18 year old category. She said of her victory,

“I thoroughly enjoyed the par 3 competition at 3 Hammers. It's a great challenge . I relished the experience of being in my first play off. I would to thank American golf for sponsoring the tournament and all the organisers.''

''It was nice to see the young players, girls and boys from as young as 5, taking part. I look forward to playing again next year.”

The youngest winner on the day was George Johnson, who plays his golf at Drayton Park Golf Club. George won the 6-8 age group. Both the 9-10 and 11-12 categories were taken by junior golfers who play out of 3 Hammers: Joshua Jones who won the 11-12 competition was a very popular winner on the day after being a runner up many times before; and Ronnie Groves who successfully defended his 2016 title to become the 9-10 age group winner.

Over 80 children took part in this annual competition which takes place on the 18 hole, Henry Cotton designed, short course at the national award winning 3 Hammers Golf Complex. Owner Ian Bonser is proud to host the event which is one of the most popular in the golf calendar, “this is a very special event for us and for the young golfers in our region. It’s a real celebration of golf. Everyone taking part absolutely loves the game and you can see how much enjoyment it gives them to take part. We’re so delighted to crown Georgia our 2017 Champion. She’s our youngest champion ever and is certainly one to watch for the future.”
