Burhill Golf Club is set to host the final event of The Disabled Golf Association (DGA) season later this month as the ‘Race to Burhill’ reaches its climax.

Surrey-based Burhill Golf Club, one of ten U.K. BGL Golf venues, is set to host the final event of The Disabled Golf Association (DGA) season later this month as the ‘Race to Burhill’ reaches its climax.

With seven events having been played at BGL venues across the country throughout the year, the top three players from each event have qualified for the final to be held at Burhill on Friday 23rd October.

With handicaps ranging from seven to 36, players will be making the trip from a far afield as Cornwall, Lancashire, Somerset and the Midlands.

Founded in 2010, The DGA aims to facilitate access to golf for disabled and impaired people across England, with the organisation having achieved status as a charitable Community Interest Company with the sole purpose of getting more people onto a golf course for therapy and general well-being.

DGA Director and Events Coordinator Graeme Robertson commented,

“Burhill provides the perfect venue for our season-ending final as it gives all of the players the opportunity to play at what is an extremely prestigious venue. We have enjoyed our partnership with BGL and are looking forward to next year already.

The players who have qualified for the final will represent the very essence of what the DGA stands for, with the field comprising competitors with varying disabilities including autism, systemic sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.''

Established in 1907 and nestled in leafy parkland on the outskirts of Walton on Thames, Burhill has a long-standing reputation as one of the finest golf clubs in Surrey. The venue is highlighted by two superb 18-hole golf courses and a Georgian mansion clubhouse which is home to two bars, The Green restaurant and private dining facilities for up to 150 guests.
