A group of eight Great Britain and Ireland players met this weekend at Dun Laoghaire GC, near Dublin, for a Curtis Cup familiarisation session.
The players were given the chance to look round the course and facilities of Dun Laoghaire Golf Club under the watchful eye of their Captain Elaine and Team Manager, Helen Hewlett.
Amongst those involved were World Number One amateur Leona Maguire, recently named Irish Independent Young Sports Star of the Year, and compatriot Olivia Mehaffey who has also had a fantastic season and will undoubtedly be eager to compete on home soil.
Bronte Law and Charlotte Thomas, both students at American colleges, were unable to make it to Dun Laoghaire for the familiarisation visit by the players.
The team will be looking to regain the Curtis Cup after they were defeated 13-7 in the 2014 edition of the transatlantic matchplay event.
The Great Britain & Ireland team of eight will be announced on Thursday 28th April 2016 at 14:00hrs. Six players will gain automatic selection – the top four GB & Ireland players in the world golf rankings and the top two in the Ladies' Golf Union Order of Merit. Two other players will be chosen by the Selection Panel to complete Captain Elaine Farquharson-Black’s line-up.
